Established to preserve the native landscape of Northwest Indiana by maintaining an extensive tree and plant collection via natural habitats and formal garden landscapes. And, to provide educational and recreational opportunities for visitors to and residents of the Northwest Indiana region.Taltree is a beautiful 360-acre, dog-friendly oak preserve of formal gardens, woodlands, wetlands and prairies that offers a variety of events, classes and exhibits. Guests can explore the diverse landscape via approximately 4 miles of hiking trails. Taltree is home to many endangered and rare species. Its formal garden displays include the Oak Islands, Children's Adventure Garden, the Taltree Railway Garden and the Native Plant Garden.
