The Washington Heights Chamber Orchestra (WHCO) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts education organization founded with the mission to engage the people of Washington Heights and neighboring communities through exemplary musical performances and innovative educational programming. Through free public concerts and music education, WHCO aims to create an accessible, communal listening experience that celebrates diversity, engenders civic awareness, and enriches lives. More than classical music, the orchestra strives to be a place that connects the best art across genres and cultures and reconnects people in community. The organization is centered on the chamber orchestra, which draws professional musicians from Upper Manhattan, supplemented by a chamber music and jazz concert series which features exemplary local artists.
