Voyageurs National Park Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered in Minneapolis whose mission is to protect and promote the natural, recreational, and historic resources of Voyageurs National Park. We serve as the leading voice for both protection and promotion of Voyageurs National Park. As a partner with the National Park Service, we empower park stewards, implement special projects with financial and volunteer support, and work together to preserve the visitor experience and wild nature of the park for future generations. Our initiatives include: Landmark Grant As Congress continues to cut National Park Service funding, VNPA has committed a grant of $150,000 to the park. The Landmark Grant will support projects and programs related to land preservation, research, education and visitor destination sites. National Park Teen Ambassador Program We seeks to introduce a younger, more diverse audience to the natural classrooms that are national parks. In this effort, we partner with Wilderness Inquiry and the National Park Service to provide the National Park Teen Ambassador program, a free environmental stewardship and education program for young adults. Protection & Stewardship We manage a Land Preservation Initiative to help willing sellers transfer private property to park ownership. In 2014, VNPA will transfer 61 acres to park ownership. We also advocate on behalf Voyageurs' historic and environmental assets, ensuring that the park remains wild and pristine for future generations. Volunteering We always welcome volunteers at our organization! There are many opportunities on our website, including the two-day Volunteer Rendezvous we host at the park each year.
