One of our key roles is to assess the healthcare needs of the people of Lambeth and then arrange and pay for healthcare services to meet these needs. We carefully use the money given to us by the government to do this. This year we will spend over £500 million on services provided by: Community teams, providing a range of nursing and therapy services. Primary care contractors: dentists, family doctors (GPs), optometrists (eye care and pharmacists (chemists). NHS trusts and foundation trusts (hospital and mental health services). Lambeth Council, and voluntary and independent sector organisations. Together we strive to reduce inequalities, protect people's health and promote healthier lifestyles. Our main local hospitals are Guy's and St Thomas' and King's. Our local mental health services are provided by South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
