Associate Director at California Institute for Community, Art & Nature - Berkeley, California, United States
The California Institute for Community, Art & Nature (California I CAN) strives to present ideas and community-based programs to refresh the spirit and point the way to a more sustainable and joyful life. Our core programs focus on three areas: - Working with the native communities of California on issues of political and cultural sovereignty;- Understanding and maintaining Berkeley as a center of cultural and social innovation;- Exploring the powerful connection between nature—place—and the arts, and the role they play in invigorating the social imagination. Our recognition of beauty and our determination to share it with others is central to our work. And while we take our work seriously, joy, playfulness, generosity, community involvement, and a belief in the transformative powers of beauty permeate everything we do. We have a small staff, but a wide reach. As for our legal status, we're a sponsored project of Earth Island Institute, a 501(c)3 non-profit.
