Claude J. Pellan opened his own law office in 2007. His practice is specialized mainly in Franchise and Business Law and he serves a clientele composed mainly of franchisors, distributors (local and national) and manufacturers.Prior to private practice, Claude J. Pellan headed the Legal Division of the Forzani Group Ltd. (Sports Experts) for almost 10 years as Director of Legal Services. In this capacity, he participated in the development of a development strategy across Canada that saw the franchise division grow from 100 retail stores (mainly in Quebec) of an average of 5,000 square feet and two (2) banners to over 225 retail stores (25% outside Quebec) of an average of 15,000 square feet and nine (9) banners. He also participated in strategic planning, acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, financings and managing external legal files.Claude J. Pellan learned the rudiments of franchising when he was employed by Hudon et Deaudelin Ltd. (now Sobeys Quebec Inc.) from 1994 to 1996.Claude J. Pellan has been a longstanding member of numerous associations including the Quebec Franchise Association, the Canadian Franchise Association and the Quebec Bar Association.He is the author of numerous articles on franchising (See www.claudepellan.com), a regular contributor to the Quebec Franchise Magazine and Canadian Opportunities. He is also author of his own newsletter "Franchising" and, since 2008, has been a regular speaker at Franchise shows and events where he has spoken on numerous subjects dealing with franchising.
