History:The formation of Greenhouse Ministries came from a desire to inspire, give hope, and help change broken lives. Living in a generous community, we knew of many wonderful service organizations that were willing to give out food and tangible items to help people who were struggling with immediate needs. Through peer counseling with the Pregnancy Center, at church, and in volunteering in several High Risk neighborhoods, we observed that people arrive at this place of urgency sometimes by unforeseen circumstances, but more likely from a series of poor choices. We as a family and other volunteers wanted to offer life changes, and began a program to reach those needs based on relationships; relationships that would allow us to earn the necessary trust to mentor, encourage, and train, to improve education and hopefully effect thought patterns. Our desire was to truly invest in their lives. As we set up our 501©3 in 1999, we wanted to offer a safe place where the hopeless could come to get physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual help, and find their God given dreams and purpose. As we moved into our first building we continued with the relationships we had formed in the high risk areas and continued the GED tutoring, the computer classes, the budget classes, the parenting classes, and the classes with Biblical values. As Greenhouse has grown, we have added many classes and programs all with the same purpose and focus, to be available to help people find their dreams, their gifts and direction.Mission:Greenhouse Ministries, through local volunteers, provides relational ministries that are designed to inspire, give hope, and change lives.Vision:Greenhouse Ministries' vision is two-fold: To offer a community-based place for volunteers to share their gifts for the glory of God and to serve the underserved through planting, watering, and growing up God's children by the power of God's love, nurturing them in a safe place (based on Luke 2:52).
