Breakwater International is a maritime service provider focused on life saving appliances, firefighting equipment, gas detection, general ship repair and load tests. In addition, based on its technical background and expertise, Breakwater International also offers fuel optimization, ballast water treatment system and monitoring system solutions. Breakwater International was established in 2003 as L.A. Maritime Services. Its CEO, Dieter Liebich, established the business in Los Angeles to service 2- and 4- stroke engines, based on his professional background and previous assignments at New Sulzer Diesel, Wartsila and Goltens. Just two years later the company extended its services to general ship repair, load test, repair and inspection of lifeboat and davits, working closely with leading manufacturers. As the business grew, the company opened the doors of a brand new 6,500 sq. ft. workshop located in the Port of Los Angeles in 2009 and strategically stationed technicians throughout the U.S and Canada. The expansion also included the opening of G.C. Maritime, a new facility in Houston. Later, in 2017 the company extended its network to include a workshop in Fort Lauderdale. With different stations having regional names, the need for a unifying and recognizable brand name became eminent and Breakwater International was established. Under this new name, stations in Piraeus, Greece and Singapore were opened to accommodate customers outside the U.S. as well.
