Curtin Motorsport Team is an entirely undergraduate student run organisation that competes in the annual Formula SAE design competition. We place an emphasis on a hands-on approach to engineering for all team members, as well as developing skills in management, leadership and technical design. The competition involves the team conceiving, designing, manufacturing and testing an open-wheel racecar over 12-months ready for the final event in December. The student team takes full responsibility for the project management, finance, technical development, human resources and logistics, and this helps to teach our members essential real world engineering skills that enable them to graduate as well-rounded engineers who are comfortable in the workplace. It is important to note that while our project theme and team name is Motorsport orientated, our approach, methodologies and team goals are centred on engineering skills development. We are all here for the challenge and sense of achievement that accompanies engineering project work, as the friendships formed within the team, and the challenge of the competition. hese objectives are captured in our team's mission statement: "The Curtin Motorsport Team exists to provide its members the best opportunity to advance their engineering knowledge, experience and professionalism. This project must be rewarding for our members, our university, our sponsors, and our community."
