transitionings was founded by owner and mother, karen mcwilliam, B.A., CD(DONA), HBCE The birth of Karen's daughter inspired her to journey into the world of childbirth education, and labour, post-partum and breastfeeding support. Her entire body of work is focused around prenatal and postpartum care. Karen received her birth doula certification from DONA International and has attended well over 100 births in a variety of settings. Karen is also a postpartum doula, childbirth educator, breastfeeding counsellor, certified HypnoBirthing ® practitioner, a Birthing From Within® Mentor, and mother of two amazing young children. Karen is also a certified prenatal and postnatal yoga teacher. She runs a weekly drop-in support group for mothers to come together, share, weep, laugh and rediscover themselves as women, and as new mothers. While living in the Yukon, Karen was the director of a local prenatal program and began teaching yoga and childbirth support in 2003. Upon moving to Toronto, Karen completed the yoga teacher training program at YogaSpace in 2006, and an Advanced Prenatal Yoga certification shortly thereafter. Karen is continually upgrading and expanding her knowledge and experience by attending various workshops and advanced teacher trainings. Her greatest teachers and source of all that is light and precious are her two children, Aislin and Gabriel. She wishes to acknowledge and thank all of the women, partners and babies who continue to inspire her in her work.
