Portland Actors Ensemble has presented free Shakespeare-in-the-Parks every summer since 1970, making it one of the oldest theatre companies in the city. Our mission is to provide financially-accessible, classical theatre in a variety of environments across NW Oregon and SW Washington. We now offer 2 free outdoor productions each summer, which are traditions for area families, reaching over 45,000 audience members during our last eight seasons.PAE was founded and run almost completely by the acting troupe for 40 years. To better serve our community audiences now and in the future, PAE is undertaking board and structural reorganization and a strategic planning process. These initiatives are already reaping artistic and community engagement rewards. Our artists may focus more on their art, and less on the functions normally ascribed to an arts non-profit board. The result will be even better quality performances of your favorite Shakespearean plays!Portland Actors Ensemble is currently recruiting new board members with a passion for our mission, with talents and energy to contribute to the success of the mission, with a willingness to meet approximately 8 times per year and to serve several hours per month. Board members are regularly invited to exclusive behind-the-scenes events and informal gatherings with the artists.Find out more about us at www.portlandactors.com. This summer's schedule is listed, starting with Antony and Cleopatra in June and ending with A Midsummer Night's Dream on Labor Day. Come see a play this summer!
