Start Lighthouse envisions a community where literacy and destiny are not defined by race or zip code. We tackle some of the key factors driving childhood illiteracy by providing schools with programming through a racial justice lens, parents and caretakers with literacy learning through community workshops, and children with literacy kits throughout the year. Since our inception in 2020, we have collected 3,949 books, distributed 324 literacy kits, and impacted 385 families in the South Bronx. We are looking for individuals with a passion for literacy and social justice who are ready to jump into a collaborative and creative environment.
