Welcome to East St. Louis School District 189, a district with a rich history of famous and accomplished students. We are immensely proud of the accomplishments of alumni such as musician Miles Davis, athletes Jackie Joyner Kersee and Kellen Winslow, Emmy award-winning media executive Charlotte VM Ottley, and surgeon Kanesha Lafaye Bryant. To continue this legacy of greatness, we are looking at the examples of success in our schools and replicating them throughout the District. We are also researching and implementing best practices that have proven to increase student achievement and financial stability.
