Bright Beginnings offers a rich and challenging curriculum for dyslexic children. Our class sizes are very small. We assess the student's weaknesses as well as strengths to determine a starting point in all of the instructional areas. Each child is unique in their abilities and challenged accordingly. The goal for the students is to be successful and competent learners. At Bright Beginnings, the accent is on the positive. Students find the pleasure of working with other bright and talented dyslexic kids like themselves. We encourage students to discover their talents, and develop their own learning style. Bright Beginnings is designed specifically for the young dyslexic student and the curriculum is based on current scientific reading research. Intensive reading intervention is provided through daily dyslexia therapy sessions using Orton-Gillingham based instruction delivered by dyslexia therapists. Small class sizes allow the teacher/therapist to address the needs that are unique to the dyslexic child. Dyslexa Therapy / Reading Classes are offered for Homeschool students. When the children come to us, although very bright, they are usually discouraged with school and have become ‘followers' of their peers. They have struggled so much in school to keep up, many have ‘shut down' and quit trying. We, at Bright Beginnings, assess each child when they come in and build a program designed for him/her. Many language skills, social studies and science concepts are taught ‘whole group' with certain expectations for each grade level. We instruct and monitor each child as they complete tasks to insure learning is taking place and benchmark goals are being met. It is the goal of the Bright Beginnings program for each child to become independent learners so they can be successful when returning to the regular classroom.
