The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a worldwide organization of lay Catholics who seek personal holiness through works of charity. The Society was founded in 1833 by a young Catholic college student, Frédéric Ozanam, and his friends, who were challenged to put their faith into action. With local chapters (known as Conferences) in more than 4,400 parishes across the country, members of the Society (known as Vincentians) have a vocation to follow Christ through service to people in need and bear witness to His love. No work of charity is foreign to the Society! Vincentians serve their local communities in a variety of ways, including food pantries, thrift stores, housing, disaster relief services, job training & placement, prison reentry, and more!
