Phantom Hands is a design and craft driven furniture maker based in Bangalore, India. With a focus on Indian Modernism, our collections include re-editions of mid-century classics, as well as contemporary objects created in collaboration with acclaimed furniture and textile designers. Our notable collections include 'Project Chandigarh', based on modernist furniture created by Pierre Jeanneret and others for the city of Chandigarh in the 1950s, and the Muṅgāru Collection, designed exclusively for Phantom Hands by the Milan based design duo INODA+SVEJE.The name 'Phantom Hands' is a metaphor for the artisans who contribute to the perfection of each piece of furniture. In a sense, each object is a culmination of centuries of craftsmanship and skills, passed on from generation to generation. At our core, we are about unrelenting commitment to and celebration of fine Indian craftsmanship that is now becoming extinct and upholding these standards in a contemporary world where the economic and cultural landscape make it very challenging to do so.
