Organisations increasingly undertake simultaneous projects in order to meet their strategic change programme requirements. These projects will frequently be at contrasting stages of development and are often influenced by different styles of management. The challenge: how best to coordinate project deliveries on time, without incurring cost increment or unwelcome delay and to realise all of the benefits of change predicted? Managing this problem often involves a combination of both project and programme management techniques. Such methods however can be hard for organisations to do well as they may require new ways of working for those involved (example PRINCE2). Our proven solution to these problems is to use template driven project management controls and to mentor the intial implementation of those controls so that everyone involved with the project can have both visibility of, and confidence in, all activities involved.
