Extending the Link (ETL) was founded in 2008 by students at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University in central Minnesota. The student-run organization annually produces documentary films focused on under-reported social justice issues at home and abroad. Each year, ETL identifies an under-reported, global social justice issue to highlight through film. A small group of students travel to the international location, spend their January break filming in country, and return to CSB/SJU to share their documentary during the spring semester. By applying each documentary as a vehicle for social change ETL strives to not just create awareness about an international situation, but to empower local organizations to develop sustainable action to address that issue. ETL views these documentaries as just the first small step towards the increased awareness and inspired action that our world desperately needs.
