VP of Professional Development at ALPFA USC Chapter - Los Angeles, California, United States
ALPFA (Association of Latino Professionals For America) was the first national Latino professional association in the United States, established in Los Angeles in 1972. Throughout our 45-year history we have experienced steady growth and demonstrated consistent value. ALPFA continues to build upon its proud legacy with a mission: To empower and develop Latino men and women as leaders of character for the nation, in every sector of the global economy.ALPFA USC is one of many university chapters within the national organization. ALPFA is the largest national minority based professional organization with over 92,000 members, nearly 40 regional chapters, and approximately 70 student chapters (including ALPFA USC).We value leadership through diversity in the global workforce and academia. We strive for our members to achieve professional growth, relationship building with professionals, service to the community, integrity, and culture. The most common misconception about ALPFA is that we are on organization that exclusively caters to only Latinos, but this is NOT true. While ALPFA was originally founded to bring forth equality for Latinos, it has since developed into a diversity organization that strives for equality of all races, creed, and gender identities. ALPFA stands up and pushes the boundary for equity for all minorities in every aspect of life. ALPFA USC strives and fights for the day where diversity and equality are no longer a movement or passing conversation, but an everyday reality where all kinds of people are appropriately represented in all facets of life — professionally, academically, and socially.
