In 1921, after the First World War finished, Ted Worrell founded a business beside the Toorak Hotel, trading under the name of Albury & Worrell. In 1932, the Great Depression forced the virtual closure of the business as it was known. Ted Worrell moved to Carters Avenue to continue servicing local customers' cars at a site which was previously a stable with a cobblestone floor (now the Mercedes-Benz Toorak showroom). In 1942, Ted's son John Worrell joined as an apprentice mechanic. He worked there for his entire working life. The business grew rapidly over the next 20 years, and in 1959 Karl Hagen joined John Worrell as a partner in the business. After 62 successful years in the business, John Worrell and Karl Hagen decided to retire. In 2004, Daimler Chrysler Australia Pacific Pty Ltd purchased the franchise Worrells Pty Ltd.On Friday 12 June 2009, Worrell's was renamed to Mercedes-Benz Toorak. 2012 brought more exciting changes, with Mercedes-Benz Toorak Service & Parts and Pre-Owned vehicle sales moving to 29 Madden Grove in Richmond. In late 2013 we transformed the Toorak showroom, undergoing major renovations, to create a state-of-the-art facility. In December 2015, NGP Toorak Pty Ltd acquired ownership of Mercedes-Benz Toorak with a strong focus on continuing to supply exceptional service to all of their customers. At Mercedes-Benz Toorak, we take pride in our history and look forward to another 95 years.
