Empire Fighting Chance was born on Bristol's streets 12 years ago to fight the impact of deprivation on young people's lives. We use a powerful combination of non-contact boxing and intensive personal support to challenge and inspire young people to realise their unique potential.11 years ago our founders, Martin and Jamie, spotted two young men dealing drugs in a park near to the Empire Boxing Gym in inner-city Bristol. They decided to tackle their behaviour and invited them for a private training session. Both enjoyed the session and turned up the following week with a few friends. Within 6 weeks 50 young people were attending sessions 5 nights a week. Over time, we've evolved from a small boxing project into a professional charity. The Challenge:- Unemployment- Poor physical wellbeing- Challenging family lives- Issues with mental health- Underperformance in school- Perceived lack of opportunity- Crime and antisocial behaviour
