The Center for Alexandria's Children aims to eradicate child abuse in the City of Alexandria. As the City’s primary resource for the prevention, investigation and treatment of child abuse, the Center: - Coordinates a child-centered, collaborative and comprehensive multi-disciplinary team (MDT) approach to the investigation and prosecution of child abuse cases; - Operates Learn & PlayGroup programs (for children under 5) to support their families in strengthening the protective factors that lead to safe and nurturing environments for children; - Educates the community on how to recognize and prevent child sexual abuse; and - Coordinates vital services for child victims and their families in a child-friendly setting. We achieve our mission by uniting the strengths of the public and private sectors to focus on the provision of child-focused services that are open, honest, and collaborative, as well as both evidence- and strengths-based.
