flyhighbillie is the legacy of Billie Kinder, an extraordinary 12 year old girl. Billie was known for her kindness and beautiful way of being. Billie's compassion and empathy were way beyond her years. Given the alarming statistics on bullying and mental health issues in children, it's undeniable that the world could use a little more kindness. Mental health issues are leading to suicide, the biggest killer of our Australian youth.So, with a play on Billie's name, flyhighbillie launched the b kinder initiative. flyhighbillie's annual b kinder day takes place on 22nd June with schools, businesses and communities from all around the world taking part. We have also produced the b kinder workbooks which have been developed with the expertise of teachers and psychologists. They are unique, positive, interactive and tangible learning tools that help children and young people to explore and express what it means to be kind. There are three b kinder workbooks designed for primary schools which align with the Australian PDHPE curriculum. The workbooks embed the social, emotional learning PDHPE units which incorporate the core values with a particular emphasis on kindness. The activities within the b kinder workbooks also support teachers to meet the specific learning outcomes for each stage associated with the Personal and Social Capability, one of the General Capabilities, outlined in the Australian Curriculum. The b kinder workbooks instigate conversations around kindness, empathy and compassion, as well as helping to promote confidence and resilience. Our b kinder ambassador program is also currently being implemented in schools and framework is being put together for annual b kinder student forums.
