The West Virginia State Medical Association is a 501(c)6 Organization serving physicians throughout the state of West Virginia. Established in 1867, the WVSMA is a physician-based organization that oversees several component societies throughout the state. Membership consists of active physicians, retirees, residents, and student members. The current governance structure includes: House of Delegates – the legislative and policy-making body comprised of elective representatives. The Council – the Council oversees executive functions of the organization. The Executive Committee – this committee represents the leadership of the organization.Our MissionThe WVSMA advances health and promotes quality and safety in the practice of medicine in West Virginia by representing the interests of patients, public health, and physicians.Our VisionThe WVSMA seeks to serve as the unified voice for the practice of medicine and the premier authority for evidenced-based health policy in West Virginia.
