VietnameseBoatPeople.org is a start-up nonprofit working on a podcast documenting the stories of the Vietnamese Boat People. A group of refugees between 1975 and 1996, that fled their country to escape hardship and oppression after the Vietnam war. It is estimated that almost 2M Vietnamese risked their lives, in one of the largest mass exodus in modern history. The mission of this project is to preserve and carry forward these stories so that younger Vietnamese-American generations can understand and be inspired by their heritage. And to activate the Vietnamese-American community to pay-it-forward and help today's refugee families transition into new and safer lives.
