Executive Director at The Brewer Foundation - Washington D.C., Washington, D.C., United States
The Brewer Foundation, a Washington, DC nonprofit organization founded in 2011, is based upon the conviction that students and the professionals, who have taken on the task of educating them, deserve the support needed to be successful. The foundation was started in memory of Clara L. Brewer, who was an advocate for education and general access to opportunity for more than 50 years. She was a pillar of the community in southwest Washington, DC. She served as the PTA President for three different schools in that community and was influential in providing the first official day care center in that neighborhood. The mother of eight, Mrs. Brewer gave the opportunity of a college education to all of her children. Additionally, as a 25 year health care professional in Southwest DC, she proved to be extremely influential in the growth and development of the children and young adults in her neighborhood. Just as Mrs. Brewer, the foundation truly believes that there are fewer investments more significant than building minds. The Brewer family has been assisting students with education based decisions for more than 30 years. During that time students were enlightened on an array of of issues that simplified the application process, provided a better understanding of college life, and raise the students overall expectations of their own capabilities. The Brewer Foundation will now take all of the lessons and formally make them available to others
