Publisher, Founder, & Editor-in-Chief at DBQ Magazine - New York, New York, United States
Why DBQ? DBQ Magazine is currently the fastest growing and most popular LGBT publication for people of color in the country. The DBQ brand is that of the critically acclaimed gay media personality, David Bridgeforth, which is a partnership of beauty, brains, and substance with a liberal sophistication. DBQ Magazine, because of it unique ability to give readers what they want while leading them to what they need, has been nicknamed the 'Oprah Magazine for the gays'. DBQ Magazine was initially an online review about all the things Mr. Bridgeforth loved. He wrote about parties, drag shows, pageants, and any other event that he enjoyed. The 'David Bridgeforth Review' was very popular with an online cult-like following because of Mr. Bridgeforth's witty, sometimes comical style of writing, and his commitment to the review's integrity and positive elegance. In the summer of 2011, 'The David Bridgeforth Review' was reinvented and debuted as 'David Bridgeforth Quarterly Magazine', the first publication branded after a gay man of color. Mr. Bridgeforth's bold move to cover his own magazine with very few shared exceptions made DBQ a household subject in the black LGBT community which bolstered ratings, home delivery, and circulation to unexpected highs. As of 2013, DBQ Magazine is an award winning bimonthly LGBT lifestyle publication popular among people of color in the United States and in the UK.
