Originally established on August 4, 1882, lapsed its operations in the 1920's and later reconstituted on April 15th, 1971, the Ottawa Bicycle Club (OBC) is today one of the oldest and largest cycling clubs in Canada. The original OBC was one of the founding members of Cycling Canada (née Canadian Wheelman's Association), pre-dating the creation of Canada's national cycling governing body which was established in St. Thomas, Ontario in October 1882.The OBC is primarily an athletic club focusing on organizing activities and providing support for both the recreational, fitness and competitive aspects of the sport. Consequently, it has historically focused its programming efforts within its founding core areas of focus: touring and racing.
