Serve Rhode Island is committed to creating a culture of service in Rhode Island where we leverage the social capital of volunteers to create positive change in our communities. Serve Rhode Island is both the state's center for volunteerism and the RI Commission for National and Community Service, established in 1994 by the RI Legislature to administer the federally funded AmeriCorps program. In January 2009, the Volunteer Center of Rhode Island merged with Serve Rhode Island creating one statewide volunteer connector organization. As the main hub for volunteerism and service, Serve Rhode Island connects thousands of volunteer with opportunities to serve in hundreds of nonprofits and schools annually.
