Modern Soul Food -- local ingredients, honest flavors -- in downtown Baltimore. Currently open for curbside pickup and delivery Tuesday thru Sunday, 12 pm until 7 pm. Find us on DoorDash, Grubhub, and UberEats. We are located in a landmark building, the historic CJ Youse Candy Box Factory was originally designed by prominent Baltimore firm Archer & Allen. Confectionary (candy-making) businesses were hugely important in 19th century Baltimore, and CJ Youse made beautiful paper boxes for gifting. Many of the original fixtures — including the doors — have been reclaimed and reused for Ida B's Table. This mixture of classic 19th-century design and modern comfort reflects the historical era and contemporary impact of our namesake, Ida Bell Wells-Barnett.Ida B. Wells-Barnett was a pioneering journalist and anti-lynching activist. Ida Bell Wells-Barnett (1862 – 1931) was a contemporary of W.E.B Dubois and Susan B. Anthony, writing and campaigning for justice around the world. She was one of the founders of the NAACP in 1909, and in 1990 the USPS issued a 25-cent postage stamp of her likeness. Her legacy lives on in her direct descendants, numerous journalism awards from the National Association of Black Journalists to the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, and the Ida B. Wells Memorial Foundation.
