Possability People is a Sussex charity. We aim to make more things possible for you in your life, no matter what your situation.We work with disabled people, older people and young people, or anyone with an impairment or long term health condition.We provide a range of services so that people can lives as independently as they can. These services include specialist disability advice and information, advocacy, a volunteering programme and support for people who want to go into employment. We also encourage disabled people to feed into consultations and back to service providers by our Get Involved Group. We enable people to live independently through the support of personal assistants: our PA Noticeboard matches people looking for PAs with PAs looking for work. We offer a range of other support services, such as supported banking and training, so that disabled people who do employ their own PAs can ask us to do some of the paperwork for them. We have a project which helps older people leaving hospital by finding them volunteers who can help them to do some of the things they used to do, and we have a project which supports people with muscular skeletal conditions to manage their pain through activities. We run Brighton and Hove's Shopmobility, the low cost wheelchair and scooter hire service.Our Citywide Connect Programme has brought together as many services working with older, socially isolated people in Brighton and Hove as we can find, and enabled them to work together in a wide range of creative ways, for the better of the people they are supporting. This innovative programme has the potential to change the way social care is delivered, whilst saving a great deal of money. The evaluation of the work to date has found that for every £1 invested, there is the potential to save £34.
