handcrafted | wire | art jewelryCreating wearable art using the medium of wire.I put a little of myself into each piece; individual, unique, sometimes loud but always fun!OOAK (one-of-a-kind), since all pieces are created by hand, none can ever be exactly alike.During the Summer of 2008 I discovered this wonderful Copper wire. Because of the clear coating the heavier gauge wire had a warm honey tone that I was so attracted to, I could not keep my hands off of it. I would spend hours and hours creating shapes with it and wrapping stones and beads with it. The clear coating would also keep the metal from darkening, discoloring (tarnishing), which reduced the need to soak or polish the piece to get back to a pretty copper color. In 2013 I started working with Aluminum wire, resulting in the oversized earring designs that I craved with virtually no weight on the earlobe. Working with Aluminum gives me the option of working with a silver color without the Silver metal costs. Again, also, without the need to polish the piece back to a bright luster. For earring wires, I usually use prefabricated Niobium earring wires. Niobium is considered a hypoallergenic metal, used in surgical implant parts, compatible with almost every earlobe.
