THE MISSION The mission for Carry The Load is to restore the true meaning of Memorial Day by remembering and honoring the sacrifices made by America's heroes...namely military, law enforcement officers, firefighters and rescue personnel. The truth is, there is a disconnect between what Memorial Day means, and how it is observed today. So in 2011, two former Navy Seals set out to raise awareness and resources to better-serve fallen heroes, and their families, who have died or were wounded while carrying the load for their fellow Americans. INVOLVEMENT Carry The Load encourages Americans to participate, donate or volunteer in a variety of ways throughout the month of May, and on Memorial Day itself. Choose to walk, volunteer or donate to our National Relay that spans West Point to Dallas, TX, and occurs over a 6-week period. Or participate or volunteer in a 20-hour walk, or city-wide Memorial Day event, in several cities across the US. This Memorial Day, ask yourself, "Who are you carrying?" THE ORGANIZATION Carry The Load is a registered 501(c)(3) organization helping people celebrate a meaningful Memorial Day by organizing and conducting an event that honors and thanks veterans and active duty service members, law enforcement officers, firefighters and their families for their sacrifices; and, through the event participation and sponsorship, raises money to support nonprofit organizations that help these groups and their families.
