American Daily Herald is a daily Web magazine covering an eclectic selection of news and events from a classical liberal perspective. As such, American Daily Herald strives to be fair and accurate, but not necessarily balanced.As a classical liberal "magazine," ADH has a point of view, one that we consider not only valid and "in accord with right reason," but one that is increasingly important in today's world. While the classical liberal point of view informed the American Founding Fathers and was at the core of the Enlightenment and as such laid the foundation for the rapid improvement of civilization over the last three centuries, it has come increasingly under fire, and even has been co-opted over the latter third of that period.Broadly, the classical liberal point of view holds that free men and free markets are the key to progress. That government should act as only a referee, so to speak, ensuring a fair playing field and providing a forum for resolution of disputes. This is an oversimplification, but serves nonetheless to set the parameters for American Daily Herald's editorial direction.As such, American Daily Herald will cover the broad spectrum of human affairs, from this viewpoint, with the ultimate goal being to create a place online where the like-minded can read and participate in what we hope proves to be a successful effort to inculcate and promote the values of classical liberal civilization.
