Clinical Programs & Outcomes Director / Principal Occupational Therapist
We're excited to share that Painless is currently seeking passionate health professionals to join our team.As a team of experienced practitioners, we are all too familiar with – and frankly, disillusioned by – the shortfalls of conventional pain care. The passive medicalisation of patients. Siloed reductionistic strategies. Conservativism and close-mindedness. Structures and systems that disempower, disengage and (understandably) disappoint patients.Collectively, we've thought deeply about what it would take to truly break this mould. To implement new systems and processes, underpinned by strong values and an absolute commitment to placing the patient first. While this evolution is still "evolving" our new, defining focus is the concept of "whole-person" pain care."Whole-person care" is defined differently by various thought leaders. To us, it's simply about honouring the complexity that is a human being with human needs. Not merely targeting symptoms – but stepping back, slowing down and taking the time to understand – and care for – the whole person in front of us. It's an integration: a biopsychosocial approach, yes, but also a recognition that we are not the patient's primary carers – they are. It's the patient that cares for themselves in the 99.9% of the time they are not in our practice – therefore, our role is not to dispense band-aid fixes, but rather, to mentor, guide and support patients to become their own primary carer. We'll be the first to admit these are not small goals, and they will take time to come to fruition. But happily, over the past year, we've already begun implementing major changes. We're now hoping to continue this evolution by seeking out similarly passionate, ambitious practitioners to help us drive our mission forward. If any of the above sentiments resonate with your thoughts about healthcare and pain, please reach out to discuss a potential role on our team.
