Business Owner at Devon's Autism Driven, Sweet Daddy Corn - Blue Springs, Missouri, United States
My name is Devon Griesemer, I am a young Adult with Autism. Over the last year searching for other job opportunities, I had sent out over 90 resumes to different companies and only had 2 interviews. I have worked for 3 years at a local grocery store, have never been late and enjoyed that job very much. But I could not seem to get a higher position or moved to full time. I realize that society still places autistic people in a box and we still face so many barriers as if we are not capable of higher responsibilities, management positions or even positions that require calculative thinking. Unfortunately people seem to think I am restricted in my capacity just because I have Autism, that could only be farther from the truth, yes I have ticks, yes I imitate cartoons, video games, movies and other things I enjoy from time to time, yes I am very honest and say things that most people wouldn't say, but that is just the way my brain functions. Everything in my world is black and white there is no gray area, its either right or wrong, good or bad, mean or friendly. I love people and love to socialize, I also love to cook, so when my Father and my Uncle approached me with this opportunity to own my own business and be able to travel, meet people and make people smile through something as simple as a perfect sweet treat, I realized that it is a perfect fit for me, so I say to all Autistic Adults struggling everyday out there trying to find their place in this world, think outside the box, don't let people place you inside one. MY NAME IS DEVON GRIESEMER, I HAVE AUTISM AND I AM A SELECT FRANCHISEE BUSINESS OWNER FOR SWEET DADDY CORN , I WILL CONTINUE TO BREAK DOWN THESE BARRIERS AND I WILL THRIVE....
