Using polypropylene fibers the amount of conventional steel mesh and/or rebars can be reduced or completely removed.The polypropylene concrete designs are cheaper as the material cost of the fibers are less than for conventional reinforcement, while the fibers also reduce time spent placing and handling the rebars, thus resulting in less working hours.On top of that, the CO2-emission of the reinforcement is reduced with more than 60% when using fiber reinforcement instead of steel reinforcement.Furthermore, the designs also increase the drying shrinkage strength and the plastic shrinkage strength of the concrete, which ultimately reduces the amount of cracks and the crack widths in the concrete elements.Lastly, the fibers also increase the safety on the working site, with no cutting edges or sharp ends, and no heavy lifts.
