In the past few years, Vietnamese art scene has seen a great deal of exciting momentum. First is the establishment of new art institutions (auction houses, galleries, art spaces, private museums and art funds) backed by various investors, art dealers, collectors and especially international non-profit organizations in big cities like Hanoi and Saigon. Second is the fact that several Vietnamese paintings (from the "Indochina" period) by the late artists such as Lê Phổ, Tô Ngọc Vân were fetched for over a million dollars at Christie's Hong Kong, something quite unprecedented. Art shows are organized frequently at major venues. All in all, art collecting has become a new lifestyle, especially among the elites, the connoisseurs, the riches and even young people. But still, we believe there are gaps in the local art market to fill. CHAU & CO Gallery hopes to create a platform for young, new & emerging local artists to showcase their works and reach more buyers and collectors. We seek to discover new talents and help them achieve more recognition for their works through our communication channels and activities. We strongly believe that creativity should be fostered by all means. We also seek to change the opinions and perspectives of the public on modern & contemporary art by introducing artworks that carries a new sense of aesthetics and style using various platforms and alternative materials. CHAU & CO Art Gallery also aims to further develop the local contemporary art scene by featuring the artworks created by foreign artists based in Vietnam and help the them become an integral part of the local contemporary art scene. By doing so, we hope to create a momentum and synergy for both local and foreign artists to thrive together.Last, but not least, we also want to make art more affordable and inclusive for everyone because we believe art should be for everyone. Our tagline "Make your Art seen" sums up this whole concept and philosophy.
