The Hip Hop Summit Action Network, co-founded by Russell Simmons and Dr. Benjamin Chavis, is headquartered in New York City. Our chief of operations is the corporate and nationally known finance industry executive, Lynn Richardson.HSAN is the world's largest non-profit, non-partisan national coalition of Hip-Hop artists, entertainment industry leaders, education advocates, civil rights proponents, and youth leaders united in the belief that Hip-Hop is an enormously influential agent for social change which must be responsibly and proactively utilized to fight the war on poverty and injustice. HSAN seeks to foster initiatives aimed at engaging the Hip-Hop generation (age 18 to 45) in community development issues related to equal access to high quality public education and literacy, freedom of speech, voter registration and economic empowerment.
