Norwell Consulting was born in the midst of a growing realization that organizations large and small were spending significant sums training employees and not maximizing their return. We knew there must be a better way than to send a group of 20-30 people to a room where they sit in a semi-circle on the back side of 6-8 long tables. Once there, enthusiastic speakers lead discussions and participants carefully review ideas in small groups. Informative videos are often included. Occasionally, "experiential learning" is added to the mix. In a day or two everyone goes back to real life. Upon returning to the office, these former students are quickly overcome by the pressures of work and in a short time they forget much of what they were taught. This lead to weak application of the principles learned There is a better way! In the 90's opportunity was met by creativity and Immersion Learning was born. A large US company engaged Norwell Consulting to prepare a leadership training program. Using the hills of Gettysburg as a backdrop, a unique program was created. Powerful metaphors, wrapped around true leadership principles, built a reservoir of long-lasting memories. In time, an innovation group requested a new Immersion Learning program. Six months later a program featuring Thomas Edison and innovation had been created.
