Glenelg Hopkins CMA is a Victorian Government statutory authority, one of ten in Victoria, established to ensure the protection and sustainable development of land, vegetation and water resources within the south west region of Victoria. The CMA is responsible for planning and implementation of strategies to protect and enhance the health of the region's biodiversity, soils, waters and land, and is the responsible body for waterway use and protection in south west part of Victoria. The CMA also has statutory responsibility for floodplain management, advising councils on the suitability of proposed developments in the floodplain, as well as providing permits for works on waterways.
