In developing countries around the world, 2 out of every 5 girls are forced to miss up to 5 days of school each month when they're on their periods. Absenteeism results in poor academic performance, grade repetition, and a disproportionately higher dropout rate for girls compared to their male classmates. Girls who are educated are more likely to escape poverty as adults, delay sexual debut, marry later, have fewer and healthier children and have more overall agency in their lives.Huru International works with communities in Africa to distribute Huru Kits and vital health information to both girls and boys-- because we believe that no girl should be limited by her period.
