Overview2020 marks the 90th anniversary of Family and Child Service of Schenectady, Inc. (FCSS). Our agency is constantly evolving to meet the changing and essential needs of the most vulnerable individuals in New York's Capital Region. Our mission is to enrich the lives of vulnerable individuals and their families by providing highly personalized in-home and community based services. Today, FCSS serves approximately 350 individuals and families each year, and provides about 35,000 direct care service hours. It is significant to note that approximately 90% of those we serve live below the poverty line. They lack the community, social, family, financial and personal resources to provide consistent care for themselves. Our dedicated and compassionate team provides all this direct care service with a total budget of only about $1,500,000. Less than 5% of our budget comes from donations. Bequests, memorials, honoraria and other gifts enhance our existing programs, and assure the agency's sustainability and growth.
