development director at Union Gospel Mission Sacramento - , California, United States
Established in 1962, the Union Gospel Mission Sacramento is a 501c3 non-profit Christian organization, operating without government support of any kind, funded entirely by generous donations from individuals and businesses in the community. With your support, you are a part of a Christ-centered Mission in helping Sacramento's homeless and destitute to rebuild their lives – physically, emotionally, and spiritually. The Mission has grown to serve more than 9,200 meals, monthly, and sheltering 84 men every night. We are continuously giving out free clothing, shoes, hygiene products and many essential items to our guests. We also provide haircuts, mail service, showers, and spiritual support on a daily basis. Our 9-month Residential Men's Rehabilitation Program is free of charge and accommodates 24 men. It is a Christian curriculum with a huge life-changing opportunity for those who want it, from restoring broken lives to creating new beginnings. Our Women's Clothing Closet ministers to women and their children on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting with a bible study, lots of love and prayers by our volunteers. They are then treated by a personal shopping experience with a huge variety of clothing and essential items such as shoes, purses, hygiene products, and accessories to assist them with their daily needs, their children, and for work. We are active in the community, supplying food boxes to families who are unable to adequately feed their children and the elderly who barely make ends meet. We provide over 300 holiday food boxes with all the trimmings for Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.None of the items, food, and services provided by the Mission require a fee or payment of any kind. We are open 24/7, 365 days a year with nightly Chapel Services (twice on Sundays). We believe this is the house of new beginnings, where the least, the last, and the lost find refuge and a new life in Christ.
