Miracle Babies is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that provides transportation and supportive services to parents with hospitalized newborns in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) and Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICUs) in the Southern California region. We know we can change health outcomes if we remove the barriers to families being with their babies, providing more opportunities for breastfeeding and skin-to-skin contact. Miracle Babies programs assist parents in the following ways: Transportation service, Miracle Hours, Care Packages, and diaper distributions. Our "Special Delivery" transportation program provides home to the hospital to home service to parents exhibiting barriers to access to care. Our Miracle Hours provide a unique opportunity for NICU parents to connect and share the challenges of having a baby in the ICU. Care Packages are provided to all NICU/CTICU parents and contain essential items and resource materials to aid and comfort parents during their baby's hospitalization. In May 2020, Miracle Babies began hosting community diaper distributions for any parent in need, in communities most impacted by COVID-19. To date, we have distributed over ONE MILLION diapers to 8,000 families.In May 2022, we will introduce, My Brain and My Baby (MBMB), a perinatal mental wellness program that will provide individual therapeutic counseling by mental health clinicians via telemedicine. Through our programs, we seek to improve health and mental well-being and address inequities for parents through free access to transportation, supportive services, and resources.
