Ember is an independent not-for profit climate and energy think tank providing data, analysis and policy solutions on accelerating the global electricity transition from coal to clean. We are a team of energy professionals who are passionate about the future of the energy sector. Our staff and board have worked in utilities companies such as E.ON, RWE, BP and Shell. Our values:1) Data-led: We're driven by evidence, not ideology. We develop data-led policies that show how the transition from coal to clean is working and can be accelerated. 2) Practical: We focus on economically viable and high impact solutions with global relevance. That's one of the reasons why we focus on coal to renewable. 3) Future-focused: We develop coal to clean policies that build the future power sector in a timeline that ensures Paris-compatible emissions levels. We were founded in 2008 as Sandbag, to analyse and monitor the EU carbon market, achieving reform and helping to improve the EU Emissions Trading System. In October 2019, we shifted our focus and re-branded as Ember, as we broadened our reach globally and narrowed our focus to the electricity transition from coal to clean.
