Researching innovative solutions for ecologic, sustainable heating for passive-houses.Did you ever wonder about the heating problem in a passive-house? The intended primary heating system in a passive house, as it was first suggested by Wolfgang Feist, is electrical heating. This is certainly not the most ecological solution. If you cling to renewable, sustainable heating solutions in a passive house, avoiding the use of electricity and fossil energy sources, then only 2 options remain: biomass (pellets or wood) and solar heating. The problem with solar heating is that it does not cover 100% of the heating requirements and a second system is still required. If it would be possible to rely on the sun for 100% of heating and hot water requirements in a household, this would make a huge difference. The first requirement in this scenario is reducing the energy usage as much as possible. It can't be stated enough: by all means, reduce energy consumption. For what's left, Gecotech is working on a solution to provide the remaining energy requirements with 100% solar support.
