Papelote is an original Czech stationery brand based in Prague. It started in 2009 as a diploma project of Kateřina Šachová, a graphic designer who set herself the goal of renewing the appreciation for the beauty of paper and paper-making. In its ten years of existence, papelote gradually gained a strong position on the market and is now a well-established company with a large customer base.In the first place, papelote strives to create products that are practical, functional and useful in everyday life. Nevertheless, the visual aspect of it is also of great importance. A few floors above the brick-and-mortar shop in the centre of Prague lies its very own graphic studio which designs every one of the brand's products and oversees the manufacturing process, fine-tuning details on the go.All products are produced locally and also materials are selected with care: Only eco-friendly materials are used and all paper comes from certified sustainable forestry. For papelote, sustainability is a crucial topic – even the principle of upcycling is often applied to avoid leaving any leftover material behind. The complex manufacturing process often combines machine production with manual work, making use of traditional handicrafts. Every detail matters!Besides having its own brick-and-mortar shop and a number of resellers in various countries, papelote also offers unique solutions of stationery products for brands. The graphic studio with a bookbinding workroom develops original series custom-tailored to the clients' needs – from a small gift to a complex conceptual solution, representing the brand's story, values, motto, and its whole identity.
