The Anam Cara Foundation was founded by Dr. Lawrence Edwards in 2001 after the tragedy of the 9/11 bombings. The people of the New York area suburbs were particularly devastated by the loss of life and loved ones in that terrorist attack. Dr. Edwards' extensive background in meditation led him to create this non-profit in order to offer everyone access to meditation training that calms the mind, heals the body and transforms one's life.\\The mission of The Anam Cara Foundation is simply to make the power of meditation practices available to everyone. We offer free meditation programs, on-line resources, and free trainings to health care workers, hospice workers, hospital staff, university students, high school students, teachers and any others seeking meditation training. We have provide meditation instruction to thousands of individuals. \\People seek meditation training for stress reduction, for dealing with chronic pain or illness, coping with conflict, dealing with end of life issues, as well as for enhancing the strength of one's focus, peak performance training and spiritual growth. \\We teach mindfulness meditation practices, Buddhist practices, mantra meditation, yogic meditation practices, Hindu meditation practices, chanting, Western and Christian meditation practices and more. We are non-denominational in our offerings and we have featured world-renowned teachers from a variety of traditions in our programs.
