The mission of TechCalling is to be the premier destination on the internet to find out about the coolest jobs in the tech industry.\\I started working as a software engineer at Concur straight out of college in August 2008, right when the financial crisis began. As a fresh grad with no experience, I didn't exactly have a whole lot of confidence in my job security. So I started a spreadsheet in a google doc to keep track of other potential job opportunities. I read a lot of tech news, so anytime I would read about some company with awesome job postings, I'd add it to the spreadsheet.\\Eventually I realized that I wasn't going to get laid off, but updating this spreadsheet and reading about sweet new tech jobs had become kind of a hobby, so I kept it up. Whenever a friend of mine was looking for a new tech job, they would ask me if they could use the spreadsheet, or if I knew of cool companies they should look into.\\I'd been looking for a new startup idea for a while now, and everyone says you should do something you're passionate about. I thought about the simplest way to implement it, and eventually came up with the 'groupon for tech jobs' model, where I profile one sweet new tech company with awesome postings every day. Who doesn't want to know about awesome new opportunities? I ran the idea past some fellow tech friends, and they liked it, and so in early 2012 TechCalling was born!
